The short version: the calculator and your product list never leave your device. If you sign up for fee alerts we keep your email address, and if you buy Pro, Stripe handles the payment.

Who we are

Maker Sums is run by [YOUR NAME], based in the UK. For anything to do with your data, email [CONTACT EMAIL]. We are the "controller" of your data under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

The calculator and your products

The numbers you type into the calculator, and the products you add to Price your shop, are saved in your browser on this device only. They are never sent to us and we can't see them. You can delete them at any time by clearing your browser's data for this site.

Fee alerts

If you sign up to be told when Etsy changes its fees, we keep:

Why: to email you when Etsy's fees change. We don't use your address for anything else, and we never sell it or share it for marketing.

Our lawful basis: your consent, which you give by signing up. You can take it back at any time.

How long we keep it: until you unsubscribe. When you do, we delete your address straight away rather than just marking it as unsubscribed.

Buying Pro

Payments are handled by Stripe. You type your card details into Stripe's own checkout page, and we never see or store them. Stripe tells us whether the payment worked and keeps a record of it, including the email address you gave at checkout.

We use that email address only to restore Pro if you ask us to, for example on a new device. Once Pro is unlocked, a small code is saved in your browser to remember it.

Our lawful basis: to provide what you paid for (contract), and to keep payment records as UK tax law requires.

How long it's kept: Stripe keeps payment records for as long as the law requires, usually six years.

Spam protection

The sign-up and restore forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that you are a person and not a bot. To do this, Cloudflare looks at information about your browser and connection when you use the form. It is used only for that check. You can read more in Cloudflare's Turnstile privacy notice.

Who else handles your data

These companies may process data outside the UK, under safeguards approved for UK data protection law.

Cookies

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and there is no analytics on this site.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Every fee alert email has an unsubscribe link, or you can email [CONTACT EMAIL] and we'll sort it out within a month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
